What is Azabu Pet Pet Taxi?

Let our specialised Pet Taxi bring your fur-family safely to any grooming appointments or just out shopping!

Our taxi is specially designed for dogs, cats and other small animals. We take extra care to ensure you can have a pleasant ride free from pet hair and smell.
*You are also welcome to ride along with your pet to look over them!

All of our staff are qualified animal-handlers that will pick up and drop off our little guests.

This service is a “Speciality Pet Taxi”, it is a rental car service aimed at pets. It is not for people like regular taxis are. However, we do allow the owner to ride along as a “guardian” if there is a need to watch over them. In this case, the owner takes full responsibility for the pet and any of the their actions.

Azabu Pet’s “Speciality Pet Taxi” is a light, one-box car.
You can rest assured that this car has has been officially registered with a transportation business number with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism.

  • Unlike regular taxis, large dogs are no problem with our cavernous interior.
  • We fully disinfect the car inside and out each time we pick-up or drop-off a guest.
  • The owner can ride along with our little guest as a carer.
  • We also only pick-up and drop-off the pet themselves.
    In this case, please understand that we do use cages or carriers to ensure their safety.
  • We have a range of different ways (cage, carrier, in the back with a pet sheet) our guest can ride in our taxi. We decide the method to match each guest.
  • In order to reduce stress on our guests during longer rides, we will take them on small walks at places like service areas on the way.
  • The back doors are slide open doors
    perfect for getting in and out and luggage loading and unloading!

  • All seats behind the driver’s seat can all be folded away so even big dogs can ride in style.

  • Rest assured that even from the driver’s seat the cage is in plainsight for keeping an eye on how our little guest is doing.

  • We have two large cages on board, so even those with large fur-families can ride together.

Empty Taxi Fee (one way)

Empty Taxi is when the car is going to the pick up area and when it is returning to Azabu Pet with only the driver on board. We calculate this fee by distance.

During the high season (busy season), the price is 20% higher.

The price is calculated based on the distance between the pick-up and drop-off points.
*There is an extra late night rate from 11pm to 7am.

Waiting Fee

This fee is calculated based on the time the Pet Taxi needs to wait at either the pick-up or drop-off point. Each extra hour will attract a \1,650 fee, if there is over a two hour wait.

Outside of Core Operation Times/Late Time Fees

The following prices are what we charge for our Empty Taxi, Pet Taxi, Waiting Fee during 9pm to 7am.
Outside of Core Operation Times (9pm-11pm): \3,000.
Late Time Fees (11pm-7am): Quote

How we Measure Pick-up and Drop-off Distances

We calculate the prices based on the amount of kilometres between each Pick-up and Drop-off point using the shortest routes.
However, if the client requests a certain route, we will charge per kilometre of the requested route.

Other Fees

Please understand that the client is responsible for any charges (such as for the use of toll roads etc.) that occur while using this service.

High season period (busy season)

The 2024 high season period is as follows.

From December 23rd, 2023 to January 8th, 2024
March 20th to 31st
April 27th to May 6th
July 20th to August 31st
September 14th to 23rd
December 21st to January 13rd, 2025

Service usage during the above period will be billed at the high season rate.



Cancellation Fees

If we receive contact of cancellation the before the day of your appointment, there is no charge.
For day of cancellations, there is a \3,300 cancellation fee. 

Things to be Aware of when using our Pet Taxi

Before you use our Pet Taxi service, please take the time to read this.

  • Holding on to your Consent Contract
  • To prevent any management errors, we ask our clients to sign a “consent contract” that we will keep a copy of and we ask that our clients also keep their copy.

  • Owners Riding Together
  • This service is a “Speciality Pet Taxi”, it is a rental car service aimed at pets.
    It is not for people like regular taxis are.
    However, we do allow the owner to ride along as a “guardian” if there is a need to watch over them.
    In this case, the owner takes full responsibility for the pet and any of the their actions.

  • Getting pets in and out
  • Car doors will be open and shut by our staff. However, if it is deemed safe for the pet, the owner may also do it.

  • Pets Riding Alone
  • Pets that ride alone will be put into cages or a carrier to ensure safety while driving.

  • No Smoking in the Car
  • For both our staff’s health and the health of our guests, our taxi is strictly no smoking.

  • Handling Tropical Fish Tanks and Other Tanks
  • Please understand that we are not responsible and will not give any compensation for damages to equiptment such as filters or motors.

  • Appointment Scheduling
  • We do our very best to drive on schedule.
    However, please understand there are times that we do not make schedule such as if there is bad traffic, an accident or a breakdown.
    In cases such as these, we cannot give discounts, or any sort of compensation.

  • Reciever Declines taking in your Pet
  • If the person supposed to take the pet declines for whatever reason, the pet will be taken back to the owner. The owner will also be responsible for any charges that occur during this return.

  • Pet Taxi Insurance and Compensation
  • >For Pets
    During the drive, if there is “a natural disaster, explosion or impact with an object” that causes death, there is a possibility of compensation from “Comprehensive Insurance” and “Cargo Liability Insurance”.
    Please be aware, there is no compensation for “injury” while driving.
    We take the utmost care when driving, however we are unable to give any compensation for any incidents outside of our control.
    ・Pet incidents (injury, death, etc.) during driving *There is the possibility of compensation from insurance in the case of death.
    ・Pet illness while driving
    ・Pet illness or death after use of our taxi

    >For Guardian
    If the person who is the riding with the pet as their guardian is injured or dies, there is a possibility of compensation from insurance as this would come under “Person Liability Insurance” and “Passenger Injury Insurance”.

  • Charges Invoicing
  • We will estimate the charges and fees.
    However, if the client requests it, there will be additional charges due to changes to the route, extensions of waiting times, late night rates and any other fees that might occur during the service.

  • Charges Payment
  • We ask that once the pet has been dropped off at their destination, that we are paid in cash. If the pet is riding alone, we ask that we are paid the estimated amount at the pick-up point.

  • Cancellation Fees
  • If we receive contact of cancellation the before the day of your appointment, there is no charge.
    For day of cancellations, there is a \3,300 cancellation fee.
